The purpose of the grant was to provide staff support to the Chicago Area Immunization Coalition whose goal is to improve the number of children under the age of 3 years old who are properly immunized. The grant was not related to any issue before the committee."

"On June 1, 2000, the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition received a $10,0000 grant from Merck. The purpose of the grant was to pay for expenses related to a provider education seminar, Victory with Vaccines, that was held on May 20, 2000 and attended by 75 people. Topics covered included basics of immunizations, review of the immunization schedule, immunization strategies for health care providers, vaccine handling and storage, common misconceptions/concerns regarding vaccine safety and a varicella vaccine update. The grant was not related to any issue before the committee."
