My name is Sherry Wied, I'm David's Mom. For 2 years, 11 days our son David has suffered daily with vaccine injury from the hep B vaccine. He's in constant pain, exhausted, nauseous, cardiac problems, basically miserable everyday. We have a "vaccine injured-CNS demylinating disease" diagnosis from 4 different physicians. This is progressively degenerative. During this same time I have been trying to figure out what in God's name possessed the IL Dept of Health to mandate this vaccine. There was and is no epidemic. According to your own stats, 35 kids had this disease since 1991-98, no deaths. 210 kids in the same age group have been injured by this vaccine, 5 died. Risk vs. benefit? I don't think so. Stupidity and greed are more like it.

I called the IL Dept of Health on March 3, 1999 and asked for the names of the safety trials for this vaccine--they admitted they didn't look at any. There are no long term studies! The clinical trials for this vaccine lasted 4-5 days, and took place in Asia and Africa. They took the word of the CDC's ACIP and the FDA. Great! According to the House Reform Committee Majority Report 6/00, All 14 members of the ACIP have admitted that they have financial links to the drug co. 14 of 15 members of the FDA CIBER committee have admitted financial ties also. You mandated a vaccine recommended by committees that are comprised of dr's who have violated federal law! If this was happening on Wall Street, you'd all be in jail! France has filed 5 criminal charges against Merck and SmithKline concerning this vaccine and we still mandate it!

Dr. Lumpkin, as head of the IL Dept of Health and members of the State Board of Health, shouldn't you be responsible for doing your own homework? Do you always just sit back and do what other bureaucrats tell you to do? I, with just my 'M-O-M degree', was able to dig up report after report of vaccine injury from the Hep B vaccine, literally hundreds and thousands of medical reports. With all of your MD's, no one could take the time to check this vaccine out? Weren't you listening at the hearings on this vaccine? You had testimony from researchers telling you there were problems, but you didn't listen! Unless you've kept your heads in the sand, you now have more knowledge that this vaccine has serious problems. Everyday that you allow this mandate to continue, you should be held criminally responsible for the injuries and deaths that take place. We tell our children that they are accountable for their actions, why aren't you accountable? You hid behind your MD's and political appointments. If you have knowledge and do nothing, you're guilty as hell.

Now, you sit by and do the same with the chickenpox vaccine. This isn't a life-threatening disease, it merely inconvenient. Just one child's death is a crime for a vaccine of convenience. Read the entire JAMA article and study the data--don't just read the summary. This is not a "safe vaccine." The data presented, plus the additional reactions reported to VAERS since the study ended indicates that this vaccine is not safe. There are and will be more victims, just for convenience? Under your new proposed exemption rules, my son will not qualify for a medical exemption. You'll have to vaccinate him over my dead body. Maybe it has to happen to your child or grandchild for you to get the message. At the rate at which children are being vaccine injured, it won't be long until it hits your families. You're willing to sacrifice my child, how about your own?

My son sits at home, unable to be a normal 12 year old. He's one of the lucky ones though, at least he's still alive, no thanks to you. You do nothing to help vaccine injured children. You're invited to our home anytime, to see what your mandates do to kids. He'll teach you how to deal with horrible pain everyday, how to sit and watch your friends have a normal life, how to pass the time when you don't have the energy to sit-up and how to face not having a future. His case isn't rare, as the CDC would like us to believe, there are thousands of kids out there that are vaccine injured, thanks to poorly researched mandates by gutless committees and boards who don't do their homework!
